Hi,

The account system goes offline randomly at random times during the day, I cannot find anything related in any of the samba logs.

As soon as I restart the samba directory server, it goes back to normal.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can find out why this is happening?

Thanks

What the Samba Directory beta needs is some real-world help and while it is in beta we need pertinent log files and real-world deployments so that we can make is solid. What it needs is a champion, or champions, in the ClearOS Community to get it across the finish line.

As such, I'm extending low-level free support for anyone community, home, or business use that is willing to put in the effort on a Q/A basis for this project and help us identify all the final points in stability and inter-operability with other ClearOS apps and services. You will largely be working with me directly to make Samba Directory stable in your environment. Please let me know if you are willing to help us get this project across the finish line.

I'm not sure how you'd downgrade. All of samba went up from v4.4 to v4.6 so I don't know what you'd need to do. Perhaps a "yum downgrade samba" then block updates to samba in yum, but I am not convince that would work.

I should have got back to you earlier, but real life has got in the way. I spoke to the devs and Samba Directory has not had much attention at all for some time. Reading between the lines, I would guess it did not get tested during the update from 7.3 to 7.4, and I don't think it is going to get much attention in the immediate future either. That is why it has only got as far as Beta and other items became more of a priority.

That's a shame, would it be worth downgrading to 7.3?

This is the second time someone has posted about this sort of thing recently. Unfortunately Samba Directory is a Beta app and it does not play well with a number of apps. I am not sure of the development strategy for it but I can try to find out.

    That would be great thanks,

I have also managed to solve an issue where the share folders would get disconnected when the account system goes offline, but now the account system still goes offline so the AD is not accessible unless you are already logged in before it goes offline (this includes the share folders)
