Coming from Zentyal to ClearOS, I started out with the home edition to see how that would work. After setting a Directory Server, and trying to connect my windows machine to the domain, I realized this would not work. I would need the Microsoft Active Directory Server package. So I moved on the try clearos business. After trying to install the Acrtive Directory, the system told me I needed to uninstall the Directory Server, which I did. I tried to install the Active Directory again and got this error :

The app Microsoft Active Directory Connector is not compatible with app-openldap-directory-core which is already installed on your server. See ClearOS Marketplace documentation on the correct procedure to remove an app.

So I guess there are some openldap stuff still lingering around..

How do I get rid of all this to be able to install the Active Directory?

And just in case I decide to stick with Home, I presume I will be faced with similar problems moving from Active Directory back to Directory Server..

What should I do to install The Active Directory for now?

Thanks

Ok thanks for the information. It is a shame because I wanted to give it a try without having to reinstall everything. The reason I wanted to do that is, after setting the Directory Server I expected to be able to connect my Windows 10 PCs to the controller (Domain).. But that failed. So I guess Windows 10 is not compatible with this and I would really need the AD Connector instead.. Can you confirm this is the case?

    Hi Patrick,

Once you select a particular account driver (OpenLDAP, Samba Directory, or AD Connector), it's not particular nice to switch back. We always recommend just re-installing to avoid UID/GID and other potential gotchas (e.g. resetting the Samba configuration file).
