I've been at this roadblock the last 48 hours. When I install ClearOS 6.3 I get to the register machine area and when I sign in with my screenname/password I get this error:
"Warning (this area is in red)
System registration/status is not available at this time. It appears your system is not connected to the Internet - please check your network settings."
I know the credentials are correct and I have access to the internet. Has anybody else experienced this error? If so, is there a "fix" for it?
Thanks

Log in to the webconfig and check that there is a valid DNS server set.under Network | DNS Server.
If there is nothing there, this may be your problem.
You can use Google's DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Or OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
If that allows you to get updates, it will hold you over until you figure out what's the problem. -

The DNS settings are setup with valid/working IP addresses which is what is confusing. I have connection to the internet and I updated the ClearOS 6.3 during webconfig configuration just before the registration which also checked if the username I chose is valid. Seems something in the recent 6.3 ISO as the previous 6.3, 6.2 and 5.2 sp1 all work fine. -

The only other thing I can think of is, I had a problem a while back registering/updating a COS 5.2 box that was sitting behind a COS 5.2 gateway that was running a proxy in non-transparent mode. That wouldn't happen to be your case would it? You don't have a non-transparent proxy between this COS box and the internet would you? If not, that's all I have to offer. Hopefully someone else can provide some insight. -

Hi all,
I too had this problem on my first boot - I ended up changing the interface role from 'lan' to external, even though your box may be on a LAN IP / running standalone. The External/Lan name for standalone mode has around for some time. As soon as the box knows it has an 'external' connection, it seems capable of registering.

Hmm...you can bypass the wizard /registration with the following URL

I just downloaded COS 6.3 and tried to install it. It gets hung at System Registration. I do have an external Ethernet connection and it is active. I'm stuck.
I even tried to go to https://w.x.y.z:81/app/base/wizard/stop, but can't connect to Market Place, i get connection failed. -

John,
I'm stumped. Tim posted a "fix" workaround that worked for me when I clicked on marketplace it gave me the error message no connection to internet and I clicked out of marketplace to any other area (I clicked server tab) and then clicked on marketplace and the apps started popping up.
