Hello everyone...

Question for the masses...

I'm building a server with VMWARE ESX on it..
I have about 4 web sites... most of which I want to use ClearOS on..
However instead of running a instance of MYSQL on each install of ClearOS I'd like to use a VM of MySQL...

VM - MySQL
VM - Hosted Website (ClearOS)
VM - Hosted Website (ClearOS)
VM - Hosted Website (ClearOS)
VM - Hosted Website (ClearOS)
----------------VMWARE ESX Server---------------------

Ideas? Possible?

..in advance, thanks

    Thanks for your response.
This is what I encountered when trying to use virtual domains or as you call it, multiple sub-domains:

From your point I agree.. I TOO would like to run it that way..
However.. of the features.. running multiple instances does not seem to be within the design.

This is a Small Business Server competitor/replacement to MS..

Thus, this is fine.. and is also why I'm considering running running several in VM's.
Regardless, it would be good if it meet a hosting providers need.

The paid services then from the client to the Clear Foundation can be the AV and other paid for services. A great hosting solution.

To my knowledge you can not run multiple different domains, mail services etc..

I'm still having trouble understanding how to manage the root web site. .
I think too its design is to be multiple sub-domains..
    www.domain.com
    sales.domain.com
    operations.domain.com
    hr.domain.com

    etc...

I hope that within future releases they take this into consideration..

    cheers

    Hi David,

I don't have an answer to your question, but I am interested in a similar issue.
Although I am not running ClearOS on VM ware, I would like to know if it is possible to run multiple community web sites on the same MySQL database.

An alternative would be to run all your 4 websites from virtual domains, but don't ask me anything about that, because I can't even get that to work ... ... but I am sure it is possible ... once I know what to do.

Anyway ... good luck and I hope you solve it.

    Greetings,

    John
