I am looking to replace my Zentyal server with ClearOS. I have used Zentyal for about 10yeras but it seems to be clunkier with each release and soem of the feature such as file scanning on the windows shares are now only available on the enterprise version.

I need to include a couple of additional lines in the smb.conf file for a certain share, if i simply add the lines as required the ClearOS scripts remove them when either SAMBA restarts or the server boots?. How do I make the amendments permanent? With Zentyal, there was a post-set script that ran after all the Zentayl scripts which would add the lines as needed, does something like that exist in CelarOS?

ClearOS Server is still under active development!

Currently, the ClearOS Server Portal is being updated from the ground up. Peter, Ben, and others are working on this.

ClearOS Server development will leapfrog directly from Clear Server OS 7.x to ClearOS Server 9.x and skip the 8.x major release(s) completely, with the IBM acquisition of Redhat and surrounding noise, this was the best path forward.

ClearOS Mobile 10.x is under current active development and fully supported.

    Please watch for continued updates.

Special thanks to those who add value for providing community support and seeing the value of the paid support and surrounding team(s).

    Adrian,

First an aswer to you question.
You can edit SMB.CONF which will be ok after a restart.
Only if you make changes in the webconfig these lines wil be changed.

    Second.
ClearOS is indeed EOL next year and the support lacking currently

Before you do that, I suggest you read a few of the posts .. the general conscensus is that ClearOS is dead. There have been no updates for the best part of a year, the underlying distribution is end of life (or very nearly), and the only maintainer has been released. Most of those using it (including me) have moved to other platforms. I only drop in here occasionaly out of morbid curiosity .. and I suspect that applies to some of the others. You'll note that very few of the recent posts have seen any responses for precisely that reason.
