The default windows groups are missing from my account manager. This is on a fresh download/install of ClearOS. I'm trying to setup Samba Directory but can't finish the install because the domain_admins group is missing. I have attached a screen cap showing my Accounts Manager screen.

Any ideas?

I may have found at least a temporary fix.

This issue seems really similar to issue 0007611 in the bug tracker. I commented out lines 269-272 of /usr/clearos/apps/samba_directory/libraries/Group_Manager_Driver.php, restarted and was back in business.

Now I get to see if I can finish getting this thing up and running!

    True, This looks like 0007611, but I start to afraid it require a magic spell to login to a bugzilla as I already created at last 3 accounts here and still have no idea what to type there to login ;)

    Anyway it seems using wbinfo is not correct because it returns groups list in format: <DOMAIN><WBSEPARATOR><GROUP> and later expects $valid_list to have plain group names inside. I made a quick workaround in Group_Manager_Driver.php and switch wbinfo to samba-tool whch gives list in more or less good format. Not sure how wrong it is :(

    Group_Manager_Driver::_get_details_from_directory() change:

    $shell->execute(self::COMMAND_WBINFO, '-g');

    to:

    $shell->execute(self::COMMAND_SAMBA_TOOL, 'group list', TRUE);

    Ok, I got this working. I had to comment out 4 lines in /usr/clearos/apps/samba_directory/libraries/Group_Manager_Driver.php. I now have too many groups showing but that's better than not enough.

    Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon so other's won't have this same issue.

    The only way I can see how these default groups would not be created is if you set your mode to backup (instead of master or standalone), unless the script bailed out somewhere along the line.

    Try forcing the initialize script and see what happens:

    /usr/sbin/app-samba-openldap-initialize -f

    I'm trying to install Samba Directory so I think it's a little different. I tried running the following:

    /usr/sbin/app-samba-dc-initialize -f

    but the system just gave me "Accounts system is already initialized"

    I tried reinstalling again last night and selected a different type of server (standalone - no firewall). The default groups still didn't show up in the account manager. Is this a groups problem or a Samba Directory (Beta) problem?

    I'm at a loss as to how to get this to work. It seems like most people aren't having this problem. Are there any guides I should use? Maybe I'm trying to setup the system incorrectly and am not checking a box somewhere.

    I've tried using this video tutorial but it fails when I get to the part where you are to add the users to the domain_admins group.

    @Murcin,
    I think you have to specifically request Bugzilla access. Please can you try sending an e-mail to support@clearcenter.com requesting access?

    How is that not still fixed in 2018! I've got all the updates and still getting that bug 6 months old!

    I was telling my students how amazing ClearOS was and suddlenly that bug! I was driving 10 fresh installations ... and all with the same bug that doesn't show any group. So you can create the groups, but you never see them again.

    I looked everywhere but the php file :-( -you're clever than I-

    I've tried to create the groups manually, to update the things from the console, etc. Samba worked fine ... but no way to get any group on the interface and no way to create any Flexshare because without groups in the combo list no share can be created.

    If you never come to Ibiza, I owe you a drink!
    Thank you very much for sharing your trick.
