Hi

So i took a look at logs as i usually do, daily, and saw that my firewall was in panic mode (or so it seems)
Looking at the yum update logs i saw the following:

running systemctl --failed shows the following:

LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded.
ACTIVE = The high-level unit activation state, i.e. generalization of SUB.
SUB = The low-level unit activation state, values depend on unit type.

6 loaded units listed. Pass --all to see loaded but inactive units, too.
To show all installed unit files use 'systemctl list-unit-files'.

    I think there is a bug in the latest updates. You can see if your rules are in place with an "iptables -nvL". If they are then the firewall is running. There is a parallel thread which does not add much more.

    I'd like to see the devs pop in on this one.

    I was thinking the same :(

    I've fixed the kdump issue manually by making changes to /etc/defualt/grub
    adding the following crashkernel=256M entry.
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rd.lvm.lv=clearos/root rd.lvm.lv=clearos/swap crashkernel=256M rhgb quiet"


    [root@sekzibox ~]# grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
    [root@sekzibox ~]# shutdown -r now


    although rebooting the system still starts the firewall in a panic state with all default accept policies in place (no routing for squid/dansguardian for internet access)
    i have to start the firewall
    service firewall start
    even though it fails, the normal system and custom firewall rules load (iptables) and have internet access once again.

    as long as there is no power cuts or reboots needed, i don't have to manually load anything :P

    Hope this gets resolved soon, have not seen many people report this as yet..
    i mean, i have 4 systems running 7.x (final) and they all have the issue.

    if you put a "service dnsmasq restart" or the systemd equivalent in /etc/rc.d/rc.local, does it get round the problem for the moment?

    no idea whats up, the firewall seems to be running, but logs say its not...
    any ideas?


    It's the ipv6 script that is failing and logging the 'panic firewall' status.

    /usr/sbin/firewall-start -d


    OK

    /usr/sbin/firewall-start6 -d


    WIll likely fail.

    We're getting someone to look at it on Monday.

    Hi,
    Same problem here. This morning I had a power failure. After work this afternoon, powered up my gateway, no connection to Internet.
    The firewall failed to start.
    My kernel is those updated on 6 july: 3.10.0-327.22.2.v7.x86_64
    When I start manually the firewall it never finish loading, I've to "break it" via CTRL+C, but if I do a iptables -nvL, it is working.
    If I: systemctl status firewall it says that it has failed.

    So please continue to investigate.
