Trying to install ClearOS 7.2 on an HP SE316M1 with a P400 RAID controller... during the install I get to where to install but the LUN does not show.

is there anything special I need to do ?

thanks for your time and experience in advance.

Please don't try to install ElRepo/kmod drivers directly from elrepo sites as they won't work. They need to be recompiled against the ClearOS kernel. It is trivial to recompile once you are used to it which is why I recompiled the kmod-cciss driver earlier in the thread.

Were you able to get COS 7 up and going? This page may be helpful for your p400:
    http://cciss.sourceforge.net/
    or perhaps this one:
    http://elrepo.org/linux/elrepo/el7/x86_64/RPMS/.

modinfo cciss results in "not found" and I don't guess hpsa covers the p400 (per above) so loading cciss may work for you.

ClearOS 7.2 recognized my P410 controller (DL380G6) without issue and without any action on my part. Of course I had already set up the 6 HDs within the P410 config utility (2 HDs mirrored for the OS and 4 HDs in a RAID5) before (actually while) booting from the COS install DVD.

A quick google for "P400 RAID controller linux driver" turns up this. As a suggestion, there may be another hybrid solution. Start off with his method to get through the installation then install the kmod-cciss driver which I have compiled here, but I give no guarantees that this will work. The cciss driver is the original driver for the card which RedHat removed from EL7 and Elrepo have now provided.

Hardware RAID support is very limited on ClearOS. See this documentation

You have to find out if you card is supported on RHEL or CentOS.

A other option is to use software RAID but then you have to disable the hardware RAID controller.

Edit: Matthew, welcome to the ClearOS Forums!
