I have a couple of ClearOS 6.6 boxes and want to change the name since I am moving to a different
DNS domain.
I know how to change the name via the GUI, and to make any necessary changes if needed in postfix and
my zone files.
I plan to leave the old domain name in place and create virtuals in postfix to accept email on the old dns name
and forward to the new one.
My question is:
- Will my changes in the GUI re-generate the necessary LDAP and other Certificates etc or
will I need to regenerate these on the command line?

- I assume the user account passwords will not change.

Thx for any insight
TK

    Nick,
I will give it a go, these boxes are SMTP gateways and web and bind DNS servers, with just one having a few email boxes on it so I will back up
my configs and then give it a shot..
Thx for the words of encouragement.. :)

It may well work. Reloading is a PITA as all users and mail needs to be set up again. I am just saying be cautious. Expect the worst and it probably won't happen. I got mine going in a day or two. The biggest problem was the Samba problem and the solution to that is known and it is the one bug fixed. Rebooting sorted the e-mails.

Good luck to you and please post back!

The reason I say this is that I did it with ClearOS 6.5 and hit a number of bugs (1718, 1719 and 1721). I get confused as to where we are as those bugs spawned other ones for different versions of the OS. 1719 and its cloned bug 1727 appear to be solved.

When I briefly looked at 7.0 alpha, one field still existed in two different webconfig screens and in 6.5 they changed an overlapping set of data which I thought was bad. I've no idea this issue still exists. Having said all that the system is up and running OK now. I think all the information you need to fix the issues is in those bugs. If not there are one or two threads I started at the time with the fixes in them.

I did have a look at LDAP through phpldapadmin and I fixed a few other legacy domain names but they did not affect the functioning of ClearOS

User accounts did not change but the e-mail addresses may have.

Certificates do not change. Apparently you can delete the CA Cert and system cert and they will regenerate but I have not dared to do this as there are lots of other certificates in the system running off these and the will also need to be regenerated and I am not good at certificates. I also do not know where to locate them all.

If you go ahead, please post back especially with the extra steps you took.
