Hi guys,

What kind of system can handle a maximum of 60 users running basic services? My office typically has 45 workers, but we do fluctuate up at busy periods.

As an immediate goal, I'm looking at running:
Squid+adzapper
Web server (ftp, http)
Bandwidth limiting

I may add some other minor services, but nothing huge. Am not planning to use Samba or Active Directory services, so storage will not really be a factor.

Am assuming a reasonable C2D with 3gb ram and 1tb of storage. How outrageous does that seem?

An i5 seems like overkill... I'm aiming to prove that a gateway is viable using existing hardware before I make any requisitions for a powerful system.

If I be u, i will want i3 instead of C2D... i3 have 4 logical processors while C2D only 2. i3 also in chip vga so consume less power n heat. About storage, if your system really critical, better go for RAID. About ram, ClearOS 5 32bit support up to 4GB ram. so make it 2gb x2 (dual channel). As i test, maximal local throughput depends on memory speed. So try to make it fast.
