I sent an email to sales Friday and never got a response. I used the chatbox on the website a couple times and waited over an hour both times and never got a response. I'm not getting a really good warm and fuzzy if this is going to be how you treat your lower end of the scale customers.

I'm looking into setting up a server for my church to do the following main functions:

manage the network so I have at least two separate subnets
be able to split the bandwidth up or at least restrict the public bandwidth to x amount
move our remote storage from dropbox to locally hosted owncloud

Initially I was going to go with a pfsense server for network admin then a separate server for owncloud and possibly an in house site. I have a Dell 1650 and a 2950 at my disposal. Since the Linux community is constantly evolving I decided to search for server option before forging ahead and came across clearos, initially I was impressed but had a few questions/concerns. Now that getting them cleared up before I proceed has been such a headache I'm not real sure I want to choose this, but I'll give this avenue once last chance.

Since I have to foot the cost of deployment initially I was looking at the $60/year home subscription, but I'm having a hard time determining if the $60 option has owncloud included in it or if it's an additional $10/year. I considered the $108/year business model but it looks like owncloud under that is another $100/year and that's definitely out of my budget. I will be the only user or admin on the system and there will be a max of 6 owncloud users. Will someone help me figure this out?

Hi Jason,

I'm Devin - I just emailed you providing my contact info.. would love to connect when time allows. Our sales team has responded to your prior inquiries, but perhaps a filter is getting in the way of your seeing them. I think the latest was from Tyler Benson about 2-3 hours ago.

Either way, it looks like Ben (on our team) has offered assistance above. Please accept my apologies if you felt ignored. That certainly was not our intent.

B. Rgrds,

Devin.

ownCloud will only work if you're on a Home Essentials evaluation.

Let me know how you make out.

I did setup home essentials eval because that's the version I intend on using.
The only thing I know to do at this point is wipe and reload but since I'm upgrading to 450GB drives I will wait until they arrive, should b next day or two.

I still haven't heard from sales I think I'm still interested in pursuing this route. I downloaded a copy of it and registered a trial period. I'm unable to access owncloud but I'm assuming that's because it's in demo mode. Also how many users can I have under the home version? When I get home in a bit I will be trying to setup the separate subnets and configure bandwidth allocation. If I can get things configured the way I would like I will purchase a subscription if not I will have to go another route.

    Thanks
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Home Essentials includes the ownCloud app at no additional cost...See this link.

I think the sales guys were tied up in a bunch of meetings on Friday...I'm sure you'll hear back from your inquiry sometime today as they go through their inboxes.

Also, since this is for a NFP, provide sales with your account username and they can set up your account to receive NFP discounts that are offered.

    Ben
