I have setup my server as a standalone. Jus want File and Print server features.

I do want the ClearOS server to have access to the internet for updates, software pkgs, etc.

When I click on Start Registration I get this error message:

Failed to lookup IP addresses for the Service Delivery Network. Either your connection is down or invalid DNS servers are configured on this system.

Is there any way for me to ping from my ClearOS server to see if it even has internet access?
Or how should I solve this error?

Thanks

On my system its ALT+F2 to log in with root via the CLI, and ALT+F1 for the red Administrative GUI. Is my system set up differently than yours?

Oh and in standalone mode - your interface should be defined as 'External' not LAN

Hi Craig, as you are in standalone mode, you have most likely given it a static IP address?

If so, you will also need to complete the DNS server fields on the IP settings page, and under the interface settings make sure you have given it a valid gateway IP address, typically it would be the IP of your router

You can try to ping hosts from the console....'ping google.com' or some other IP on your network 'ping 192.168.1.1'

Whats the output of Reports > Network Status > Routing Table?

To get to a console, press Ctrl+Alt+F2 and login as root, press Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to the GUI or...use PuTTy to login using windows remotely :)

    Hi Craig,

Do you have Internet access from your ClearOS box and clients to other sites?
I found this post on the CC forum with a similar subject:
    Unable to Register

You can do a ping attempt by using PuTTy (from a Windows client).

    Installation Wizard
Standalone mode is used to create a server on a local area network (behind an existing firewall). Only one network card is required.

Gateway mode allows your system to act as a firewall, gateway and server on your local network. At least two network cards are required. If you have two or more network cards installed in the server and want to protect your local network against threats originating from the Internet, then select gateway mode.
For now this is what I came up with and hope it helps or guides you in the right direction.

    Good luck,

    John
