Re: why when I login via terminal or via ssh as root, my user name appears as administrator?

    You are running Samba Directory.

And as it states in Admins Chapter 17 versus 21-23

21 That they all may be root; as thou, Administrator, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be root in us: that the world may believe that Samba is an AD global catalog.

22 And the directory rights which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be root, even as we are root:

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made admin in one; and that the world may know that thou hast upgraded me, and hast loved the new releases, as thou hast loved the old ones.

Root and Administrator are the 'same thing' under Samba Directory. This causes some to have consternations and to depart for the faith but the reason for this is that the Windows Administrator Accounts and groups need to be able to set file system permissions in order for certain group policies and other functions of Active Directory to work properly. This does cause some head-ache as well on the implementation side of thing which is partly what Samba Directory is still in 'beta' even though it is pretty stable. There are just certain interactions that are problematic...like yours! If you want to ssh to another box try 'ssh root@my.other.box'
