For about 5 days now, a problem has been happening with my ClearOS 5.2 machine that I can't cannot find the cause to.

My system is a Desktop 400MHZ/384MB.

It has been running ClearOS/ClarkConnect since version 4.2 or so, or whatever would have been back in 2008.

It has be running QoS and my Internet (port forwarding/firewall).

Yet for the past few days, when I max out my Internet at 3.8MB/s or 3.5MB/s or so with QoS, the Internet itself will be fine to all my computers.

But accessing the ClearOS machine itself via SSH (I run irssi in screen) or even the webconfig is virtually impossible. They both slow down as if they are on a very bad dial-up connection.

Though once the downloading has paused/stopped everything is normal again.

I tried running top as this was occurring and it the only thing is shows is all the sudden "irssi", "system-mysqld", and some other programs are showing 20% of the CPU each then jump back down after.

I have tried "rebooting" all switches, checking all network cables, still have the issue.

I made no software (package) changes to my system at all in the past week or for months even except yum update once in a while.

    Actually I don't.

I didn't think that would matter being I am only doing it inside my network but I will definitely give it a try.

Do you have qos rules for your ssh and webconfig traffic? If not it will just get dumped in the bulk traffic class and dropped when higher priority traffic comes by or your upload connection is saturated

I have figured out what the issue is for the most part. This issue goes away if I disable the Bandwidth/QoS module, but obviously having a VoIP phone and lots of streaming video, I need it.

Guess I will just have to live with it for now....

Sorry to inform all, but this problem has reared it's ugly head up again :(.

I no longer have the bridge but it still happens when I take up all of the download speed.

I believe I have found out what it was.

It appears that attempting to create a HDHomeRun bridge (I attempted like my buddy to on my main desktop put in another NIC in my desktop plug in the HDHR and bridge the adapters in Win 7). For some reason this works for my buddy (he doesn't run a ClearOS just a Linksys router) but for me it had bad effects from PC locking up to apparently the issues I described above.

My networking knowledge tells me this shouldn't technically have caused a problem but I removed the bridge/extra NIC as I don't like the HDHR being on a simple point of failure so if the desktop is off, no network TV for me :(.
