unable to find server name / DNS failed

Hi,

I installed my clearos Ent. 5.2 about 3weak all work Good.

Today I'm activat the "Gateway -> Proxy and Filtering -> Web Proxy" in Transparent Mode
but now some web site not working. see error

http://192.168.74.1:82/public/proxy.php?code=DNS_FAIL&ip=www.cnn.com&url=http://www.cnn.com/&error=[No Error]&dns=Refused: The name server refuses to perform the specified operation.&ftpcommand=nothing&ftpreply1=nothing&version=squid/2.6.STABLE21

I disable the service and disable Transparent Mode all is ok

Sorry for my english I'm French

PS: I have 500G Hdd

Have add:

nameserver 4.2.2.2

Restart Services and work

Hi,

This is obviously a DNS related issue. Check to see whether you have the correct DNS servers specified in your /etc/resolv.conf.

I would advise you to get the correct DNS servers from your ISP and populate them in your /etc/resolv.conf file starting with the Primary DNS first as shown below

nameserver 1.2.3.4
nameserver 1.2.3.5

Once you have saved these configs, restart your DNS service and squid

/etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart
/etc/init.d/squid restart
